Qualifications and experience
I have a diploma in counselling from the University of Gloucestershire and have over 2000 hours' experience as a counsellor working in private practice and for a voluntary counselling agency.
I am experienced in working with a wide range of issues and concerns and am comfortable working with people from all walks of life, regardless of gender, sexuality, culture or religion.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice and am subject to its Complaints Procedure. I am also an Accredited member of the Counselling Society.
In accordance with BACP guidelines, I attend regular supervision and follow an ongoing programme of Continuing Professional Development.
My counselling approach
As a person-centred / humanistic counsellor, I believe that at our deepest level everyone has the desire and capacity to fulfil their own true potential. I believe that you, the client, are the expert on your own life and that you know the best way forward for you, even though you might not be able to see it yet. I will therefore not judge you or tell you what to do, but will work with you to help you to understand yourself more fully and to find and use your own inner resources. With greater self-awareness and trust in yourself, you will be able to make constructive changes, leading to a more satisfying and meaningful life.
